White Water Canoe Leader

Open Canoe Leadership in the moderate white water environment.

What is it?

The British Canoeing Awarding Body, White Water Canoe Leader Award, is the perfect award for those wishing to lead groups in a moderate water environment.

This is a canoe leader award, allowing you as a leader to lead both solo and tandem open canoes from your canoe.

Where is it?

The white water leader environment is white water rivers up to Grade 2 (3), so that's mostly grade 2 with grade 3 rapids that we can easily move around (as a leader, you need to be comfortable paddling grade 3).

Who's it for?

Perfect for people operating in clubs and centres that lead novice and intermediate paddlers on everything from their first longer journeys in open boats, in more challenging environments, to multi-day expeditions.

Training

Open Course

Our White Water Canoe Leader Training courses take place from our loctaion in Killin, from there we meet in the morning and work start to form a plan based on the weather and the groups needs and then head off to the best locations, from our base we have lots of fantastic venues to let you really explore and learn the tools you'll need to operate as a leader.

Group Courses

As well as offering open courses from our base, we're also happy to travel to your venue for groups and work with you there. All that differs is the locations we still explore and learn the tools your team will need to operate as leaders.

Assessment

We offer one-on-one and group assessments. You’ll notice that we don't have many available dates on the calendar, as part of the assessment process involves planning the day. Please get in touch with us to discuss dates and assist you with venue selection.

We're based in the Trossachs, a fantastic area full of possibilities for this award, but if you'd prefer to be assessed elsewhere, that's not a problem.

Remember that you must also have a Paddle Scotland membership and be registered for the award before the assessment.
